Chauncey Wiggins, who Tiger fans watched grow up over three seasons in orange and regalia, is getting his crack at the next level after signing an NBA Summer League deal with the Boston Celtics.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward closed out his college career at Florida State in 2025-26, but it was his three years at Clemson that first put him on the national map.
In his one season with the Seminoles, the Georgia native averaged 13.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists over 32 games with 30 starts, shooting 47.9% from the floor and 38.7% from deep. He dropped a career-high 31 points in an FSU win over SMU on March 7, and in a Feb. 21 return trip to Clemson he chipped in 7 points, 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal in 28 minutes to help the Seminoles grab a road win.
Before he hit the transfer portal, Wiggins suited up for 97 games in a Clemson uniform and played a real role in the Tigers’ memorable 2024 postseason run.
As a junior at Clemson in 2024-25, he averaged 8.3 points, 2.9 boards and 0.7 assists, starting 26 of 34 games while shooting 43.8% from the field and 36.5% from three. The year before, during that 2023-24 campaign, he appeared in all 36 games and made 18 starts as Clemson pushed to the Elite Eight, chipping in 5.4 points and 2.1 rebounds in 17.7 minutes a night. His freshman year in 2022-23 was a quieter one — 27 games, 2.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in limited minutes.
The Celtics open their Las Vegas Summer League schedule on Friday, July 10, against the Toronto Raptors. Tip is set for 9 p.m. Eastern, with the game airing nationally on ESPN.
