Another Tiger is headed to Oxford. On Thursday night, former Clemson infielder Jason Fultz Jr. announced he’s transferring to Ole Miss, taking his game to the SEC.
Fultz made it official on social media, closing the book on the speculation around where he’d land.
“Excited to announce my commitment to Ole Miss,” Fultz wrote. “Thank you to the coaching staff at Ole Miss, my family, coaches, and friends for their support in this process.”
The 6-foot, 215-pound infielder spent his freshman season in Tiger orange, appearing in 40 games with 34 starts at third base. The Harborcreek, Pennsylvania native hit .231 with a .723 OPS in his first year of college ball, adding a home run, four doubles, a triple and 13 RBIs. He showed a good eye at the plate with 24 walks against 31 strikeouts. In the field, he committed six errors and posted an .875 fielding percentage at the hot corner.
Fultz came to Clemson with a strong recruiting profile. Perfect Game ranked him the No. 119 overall player in his class and the No. 6 third baseman in the country, and had him at No. 37 on their list of top freshmen before he ever played a college game.
He’s also the second straight Tiger to make the move from Clemson to Ole Miss in the offseason — a pattern that’s getting tougher to ignore. Last year, outfielder Tristan Bissetta made the same jump and put up big numbers for the Rebels, hitting .272 with 23 home runs, 11 doubles and 61 RBIs across 243 at-bats while slugging .601.
